Vilsack: Liveblog of local Iowa event

Link to my liveblog of Tom Vilsack's appearance last night at a fundraiser for State Sen. Bob Dvorsky.

Dvorsky was one of Vilsack's first backers in the 98 guv primary that Vilsack won in a squeaker.

Lots of local color here; will be glad to explain any inexplicable references.  Key points:

  • Iowa Senate is tied 25-25.

  • Iowa House is 51 R, 49 D.

  • The "trifecta" = Dems last held Iowa governor, house and senate in 1964-66.

  • "Sue" is Sue Dvorsky, spouse of the senator and prominent local activist in her own right

  • My self imposed liveblogging rules are no rewrites, I merely correct typos and add post-mortem thoughts, maybe a link or two that I can't get on the fly.
